Sean Dougherty - Partner

Mr. Dougherty has over 23 years of Proprietary Investing and Leveraged Finance experience across multiple industries.  Previously, Mr. Dougherty served as Head of Fixed Income Capital Markets at BTIG, a New York-based broker-dealer, as well as provided day-to-day oversight of BTIG's Equity Capital Markets activities.

Mr. Dougherty co-founded the Strategic Finance Group at Morgan Stanley which was a $400 million proprietary pool of capital focused on originating, structuring and investing in companies with capital needs that were under-served by traditional sources in the market. During this period, Mr. Dougherty Invested in and Arranged in excess of $5 billion of notional value for borrowers in various industries including Aerospace & Aviation, Transportation & Logistics, Gaming & Lodging, Telecom, and Real Estate. 

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dougherty held an Underwriting and Investing position at Foothill Capital, a division of Wells Fargo, after beginning his career in the Investment Banking Division of Bear, Stearns & Co. 

In addition to his duties at ParkWest, Mr. Dougherty also serves on the Board of Directors of Ebury Street Capital, a New York based, domestic Real Property & Tax Lien Fund Manager with $80 million of invested assets under management today. 

Mr. Dougherty earned a B.A. from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


John Hanratty - Partner

Mr. Hanratty manages ParkWest's affiliated real estate investment funds focused on the origination and acquisition of distressed loans, liens and management of real property assets.  Under Mr. Hanratty's direct, day-to-day fund management since 2009, total assets acquired in these funds exceed $300 million. 

For the 13 years previous to fund management, Mr. Hanratty served as the Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of OTA LLC, a quantitative trading broker dealer based in New York.  Mr. Hanratty currently serves on the board of directors of OTR Global Holdings, an SEC registered broker dealer focused on marketplace research and institutional trading.  Historically, Mr. Hanratty worked in the compliance and legal departments of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., Prudential Financial, Inc. and Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Hanratty earned a B.A. from Fordham University, as well as a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations.


Mike Kirsh - Managing Director

Mr. Kirsh focuses on institutional and high net worth co-investment relationships of ParkWest in connection with the Firm’s ongoing investing and transactional activities.  In the late 1990’s, Mr. Kirsh joined Morgan Stanley and helped pioneer its global Distressed Debt platform, which included Proprietary Trading, Origination and Secondary Trading.  This platform at Morgan Stanley grew to over 200 people worldwide with major operations in New York, London and Hong Kong, and a Value-at-Risk balance sheet in excess of $4.5 billion.  Today, this group is known as Morgan Stanley Global Leveraged Credit, and consistently ranks among the Top 10 Leveraged Finance Underwriters in the industry. 

After 10 years with Morgan Stanley, Mr. Kirsh joined BTIG in Manhattan, a boutique investment banking and trading firm, to assist with the rollout of its new Fixed Income platform, and later led the buildout of BTIG’s previously non-existent High Yield & Commodities Trading platform, before re-joining Morgan Stanley in its London offices in 2013 to continue to trade Commodity Futures & Derivatives, departing in 2015 to manage several private investments.

Mr. Kirsh received his J.D. from St. Louis University in 1992 after earning a B.S. from Southern Methodist University.


Chad Cascadden - Managing Director

Mr. Cascadden focuses on ParkWest's fund raising efforts with high net worth individuals both domestically and abroad.  Additionally, he focuses on fundraising from domestic family offices and small institutions. 

Previous to joining ParkWest, Mr. Cascadden was an executive in the insurance sector for 18 years, working in business development with Morgan Stanley, Willis Tower Associates, and Gallagher. 

Prior to entering the corporate world, Mr. Cascadden won a Rose Bowl Trophy at the University of Wisconsin, then went on to play linebacker in the National Football League for the New York Jets from 1995-2000. 

Mr. Cascadden earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
